The Silverwater Motor Festival has been rescheduled for Saturday May 12 at Silverwater Park from 12 noon to 5pm. This was made necessary when Auburn Council closed the Park for the original date in March because of flooding that occurred during Sydney’s torrential rain period.

The Silverwater Motor Festival is a family focused celebration of the positives in motoring. Built on a 17 year tradition of family entertainment by Brotherhood CMC at the Silverwater Street and Custom Motorcycle Show, this grass roots Festival showcases custom and street motorcycles, hotrods, classic cars, street machines and competition cars combined with live music and family fun for all ages including a jumping castle and face painting for the kids.

‘Auburn Council had no choice but to close the park due to the March downpours.’ said spokesman Greg Hirst.’ With better weather we expect a great turnout of competition bikes and cars.’

Temporary Australians to Film the Festival

Brendan Jones, one of the stars of the national motorcycle television programme Temporary Australians showing in Western Sydney on free to air on TVS, will be present to start filming of the second series of this popular programme that has interviewed celebrities such as Kieran Perkins, Angry Anderson and politicians Peter Garrett and Bronwyn Bishop about their motorcycling experiences.

Highlights of this will be interviews with the NSW Motorcycle Council Chairman CJ Burns speaking on green slip reductions, a spokesman form the Australian Confederation of Motor Clubs reporting on negotiations over the new system in NSW governing modified cars and custom bikes and the United Motorcycle Council’s Wayne Baffsky commenting on the anti-association laws and other recent developments.

On 24 February 2010, our friends at the Parramatta Sun (thanks Alison & Gene) featured the following short article on the upcoming Sydney Motor Festival:

THE scope of this year’s Silverwater Motor Festival will be expanded to include cars of just about every description.

Organiser and motorcycle fanatic, Greg Hirst, said he wanted to develop the “festival feel” of the event by including hot rods, classic cars, street machines and competition cars with the usual array of street and custom motorcycles.

The display will include about 60 motorcycles and at least 90 cars, with representation from the Mustang and Torana Owners clubs.

Mr Hirst said the family-focused festival would be a celebration of “the positives” of motorcycling and motoring.

It would also include live music performances and childrens’ entertainment as well as trade displays, trophies and peoples’ choice awards for cars and bikes.

Founder of the Parramatta-based Christian Brotherhood Motorcycle Club, Mr Hirst said money raised from the festival would go to charity and community activities.

The event is at Silverwater Park, Clyde Street, Silverwater, on Saturday, March 13 from noon to 4pm.
